REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

This position works closely with the Operations, Actuarial, Business Analytics, Marketing, Care Management, Pharmacy, IT, and HR/Benefits departments.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will oversee the day-to-day responsibilities of the Product Development and Wellness Team at Paramount. They will be responsible for the planning, implementation and continuing development of innovative managed health care, wellness and insurance products which support the strategic and marketing goals and objectives of the health plan. They will be responsible for the strategic direction, management, and coordination wellness services, ensuring the delivery of high quality, effective services to improve the health and well-being of employees, members, and the community. Collaborates with other departments to formulate and implement appropriate strategic vendor relations ensuring that milestones, ROI, and budget goals are met.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Oversee business and product development research, evaluation, redesign, enhancement, and implementation for new and existing products/services
  • Ensure that all development projects align with the strategic plan and goals of the health plan.
  • Manage and support the operational needs and objectives of all commercial products – including vendor selection, oversight, management, and integration, where needed.
  • Coordinates the delivery, promotion, marketing, and evaluation of wellness services including vendor technology solutions.
  • Develops evidence-based wellness strategies to improve health and well-being and reduce health risks for employees, members, and the community.
  • Evaluates effectiveness of programs through the collection and analysis of data to make data-driven decisions regarding program improvement in order to meet stakeholders needs
  • Serve as a role model for wellness by participating in employee wellness events and exhibiting health-promoting behaviors.
  • Actively participate in various wellness interdepartmental committees representing the health plan operations and strategies.
  • Lead the commercial product steering committee including providing agendas, managing meeting attendance, scheduling appropriate SMEs to discuss strategic and regulatory concepts.
  • Provide wellness services - these can include wellness coaching, biometric screenings, point-of-care testing, fitness evaluations and classes and administration of influenza and pneumococcal pneumonia vaccines.
  • Work alongside functional departments to help build and provide insights for design and marketability of new products or services and develops and implements criteria for annual program evaluations.
  • Maintains key relationships with leadership and other stakeholders to proactively identify, analyze and communicate performance, continuous advancement, and product opportunities for quality improvement, improvement the wellbeing of members, and financial effectiveness of commercial line of business.
  • Performs management responsibilities to include but are not limited to: involved in hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management and staff productivity.
  • Plans, organizes, staffs, directs, and oversees the day-to-day operations of the department; develops and implements policies and programs as necessary; may have budgetary responsibility and authority. Perform other duties as requested


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare or Business Administration, Finance, or related field

Skills:

  • Strong analytical, proven leadership, and effective project management skills and an understanding of financial operations of a health system including strong insurance knowledge.
  • Possess collaborative, critical thinking, and persuasive skills that can guide clients to a measurable, impactful strategic plan and program outcomes.
  • Continuously acquire new knowledge and expertise in areas related to health & well-being, behavior change methodology, employee benefits, compliance, etc.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Able to prioritize and accomplish multiple simultaneous high-profile projects of varying intensity and duration.
  • Delegates tasks and projects to staff appropriately and provides feedback to improve staff performance.
  • Must be adaptable to change, display qualities of initiative and be able to work independently.
  • Must have ability to generate quality work product under tight deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrate creativity and be able to develop innovative solutions to business challenges.
  • Leads by example to cultivate a climate of motivation, positive energy and meaning in work.

Years of Experience: 5-7 years’ work experience in healthcare related field with demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, project management, organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication, and effective interpersonal and relationship abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: MBA or MPH

Skills: Previous experience in product development and/or employee wellness
